What is a temporary email?

A temporary email is a real, working inbox that you use for a short time and then throw away. The address at the top of this page is already live: anything sent to it arrives here within seconds, and you never had to sign up, confirm a phone number or hand over your personal address.

Why use one?

Most sites ask for an email before they show you anything. A forum you will read once, a download that wants a "free account", a store that only wants to send you a discount code. Each of those is a small, permanent addition to your inbox and to somebody else's marketing list. A temporary address absorbs all of it and then disappears.

  • Your real inbox stays clean. Newsletters and promotions never reach it.
  • Less exposure. If the site is later breached, the leaked address is one you have already discarded.
  • No account to manage. Nothing to remember, nothing to delete later.

Temporary email vs a regular email account

A regular account is built to last: it holds years of history, it is tied to your identity, and it is often the recovery method for everything else you own online. That is exactly why it is worth protecting. A temporary address is the opposite - it is disposable by design, holds nothing of value, and is meant to be abandoned.

Use your real address for banking, work and anything you will need to recover. Use a temporary one for everything that simply wants an address before it will let you in.

How it works

An address is generated for you the moment the page loads. Give it to the site that asked for one. When mail arrives, it appears in the inbox below on its own - there is no need to refresh the page. Open a message to read it, and delete the mailbox when you are finished.

How long does it last?

The address stays with you while you keep using it, so you can come back to the same inbox in the same browser. If you want a clean slate, delete the mailbox or generate a new address at any time. If you specifically want an inbox that expires on its own, use 10 Minute Mail instead.

What it is not for

A temporary address cannot be recovered by us and is not meant for anything you will need later. Do not use it for banking, government services, work accounts, or as the recovery address for another account.
