What Steam sends to your inbox

Steam sends an account verification email, then a login code every time you sign in from a new device. That is the mail you are waiting for on this page — paste the address above into the signup form and it will appear in the inbox on its own.

Will a disposable address be accepted?

We are not going to promise you that it will. Every large service keeps a blocklist of disposable domains and updates it constantly, so an address that worked last week can be refused today, and a domain that is blocked for one person may pass for another. Anyone telling you otherwise is guessing.

The reliable way to find out takes about ten seconds: copy the address above, paste it into the signup form, and see whether the code arrives. If the form rejects it outright, generate a new address on a different domain and try again.

What Steam specifically does

Steam is the clearest "do not do this" on the list, and it is worth being blunt about why. Your Steam account holds purchases. Steam Guard emails a login code to your address every time you sign in from an unrecognised device, and there is no way to turn that off while keeping the account usable.

Lose the mailbox and you lose access to the library. Steam Support can sometimes recover an account with proof of purchase, but that process needs payment records - and if you paid with a method not tied to your name, there may be nothing to show.

Trading and Market access are also locked behind a verified email that has been attached to the account for a set period. A disposable address that expires breaks that.

What you lose if the mailbox goes away

Very high risk. Do not use a disposable address for an account that will hold games. The recovery path depends on that mailbox existing.

  4. Open it, use the code or link, and delete the mailbox when you are done.

The address stays with you in this browser, so you can come back to it later. It is never reissued to anyone else once it has been used.
